Founded in 2018, Lian Hua Arts Group (Groupe Artistique Lianhua) is a non-profit community arts organization devoted to sharing the beauty of traditional Chinese culture across GTA.

Through vibrant dance and music performances, festival celebrations, parades, and immersive cultural workshops, the group brings timeless traditions to life.

Uniting artists from diverse backgrounds, Lian Hua celebrates the enduring values of compassion, beauty, and hope. Through its performances and community outreach, the group inspires connection across generations and cultures, bringing joy to seniors, enriching youth and families through cultural learning, and fostering harmony within Canada’s  multicultural communities.

Our Team

Cecilia Xiong

Director, Dancer & Instructor

Cecilia Xiong is an accomplished dancer, choreographer, instructor, and arts program director with over a decade of professional experience.

She was a lead dancer with Shen Yun Performing Arts from 2006 to 2010, and later served as Artistic Director, dance instructor, and board member at San Francisco High School of the Arts, where she developed a four-year professional dance curriculum approved by the University of California for high school arts credits.

Since 2017, Cecilia has led her Toronto-based studio, United We Dance, teaching  Classical Chinese dance and posture training while creating engaging dance and cultural programs for schools and performing arts organizations across the Greater Toronto Area

Tanya Dy

Outreach Manager

Tanya is an arts advocate and strategic leader focused on community engagement and cultural preservation. As Outreach Manager, she develops initiatives that connect traditional arts with modern audiences through education and cultural exchange.

Her work emphasizes both professional development and community impact, ensuring programs are meaningful and well-structured. Currently, she leads projects exploring the well-being and educational benefits of the arts through workshops.

Tanya is committed to growing the organization through strategic partnerships and innovative
outreach, making the arts more accessible and impactful for the community.

Li Sheng

Art Councillor, Beijing Opera Artist & Cultural Presenter

Li Sheng is an accomplished Beijing opera artist with a lifelong foundation in the performing arts.  Born into an artistic family, she began dance training at age seven and was admitted to the Youth Arts School of Shenyang Peking Opera Theatre in 1979, specializing in Daomadan and Huadan roles.

After graduating in 1985, she joined Shenyang Peking Opera Theatre as one of its youngest performers and later received the Liaoning Drama Rose Award in 1995. Since immigrating to Toronto in 1997, Li Sheng has continued to perform in major Beijing opera productions and promote Chinese performing arts in Canada. In 2009, she joined Canadian Chinese Radio as host of the Health Talk program.
